Some highly intereating statistics are iurnislied in regard to tlic wor'.d's gold production during the past 12 months. The United States is sliown t olead all other countries on the globe with a production of 2,970,827 ounces, having a valué of $44, 870,998. The whole of South Africa comes as a very close second to the United States, wlth a valuation ot gold produced amounting to $44,750,000. Australasia is third with $44,000,000. Russia is next with $33,990,000. In British Guiana there was a falling oif in the value of gold produced duriag the past year of a'bout $400,000, leaving the total gold production for that territory at $2,052,500. The total amount of gain in gold taken from the eart-h during the past year over tbe year 1894 was $23,775,000, of which increaee the United States cao claim $5,110,000. The decline in Bilver produced from öomestic ore in this country last year as compared with 1894 was 7.608.111 ounces, ibut that does not represent the exact loss in wealth to the country from the falllng off in production o' the white metal, because the price of silver in 1895 wa.s advanced to 65.3 cents per ounce against 63 cents in 1894.- Financial Times.
