Fot instance.t liere are days a pereon can nat walk along the streets Of the business portion of our city ■without haring hand Wils or dodgers of some sort thrust toto his hand, or uoder hls arms, or quite as often into his overcoat pocket, for the "gall" of tJio lads -who pass them is almost without limit. Then again, th walks and streete are fairly littered with printed matter of same kind, giving them an extremely untidy appearance. Another nuisance is the faithful bill passer vho waaits to make sure the band bilis he has taken to pass are ■B-ell distributed, and consequently will boldly open lyour door and fill the hall of youT residence with them, nmd if liO iinds the door locked will Ttng the bell and cali either a busy servamt or an tqually busy or engaged lady of tihe house to the door to reoeive the advertiBement. The writer of -tihiB has known of good Christian ladies being tempted to bend if not break the third commandment by being oalled to tiie door for thia purpose when every imlnuite was precious ta them in the work they had laid out to accomplish before noon or night. Another equally great nuisance is the vegetable o r fruit or garden truck peddler, -who, instead of going to the rear door, where euch things are properly earried and bargained for, ■will come to the front door at any and all bouTB of the day ajid ring until some one comes out of pure self defenee to be rid of t5ie noise. Ttese, with the high toned tramp who "has 6een better days, inum," and tlhe fellow who is anxious to , Know if you have any old clothes to diepose of, or tlhe fellow who has perfumery and extracta to sell that are better than any your well known druggists or grocers can sell you, and ■wWch he offers because of bis great friendelhip and love for the human family and yourself in particular, are the baae of the average housewife's existence. They no doubt oftentimes miss seelng friends who cali, for fear of meeting some one or more of these fiends vs-no continually haunt our homes during the absence of the men folks.
