Our friends, the enemy, have circulated the story that Mr. Sawyer is an attorney for the M. C. R. R., and is working in their iaterests. Here are the facts. Mr. Sawyer was offered the attorneyship at this place fór the M. C. E. R., but refused. He could not afFord to take it. What he has done, however, for those who have been injured by the railroad may astonish you to know. He has had 22 cases against that company, and has collected $56,800 for people living in this county, and now has a case in the supreme court for $10,000 more. That's the sort of a railroad attorney Mr. Sawyer is. .. Secrotary Carlisle was insulted and had eggs thrown at him at Covington Ky„ where he made a speech on the money question ; the Stars and Stripes, our emblem oí liberty, were burned and otherwise desecrated at Aitgeld meetings in Missouri and Illinois ; republican speakers were rotten egged in the 18th ward oí Chica go. Do you want to put the men Sn power who do such things? Is it safe to trust this nation in the hand oí a man whose chieí source o: strenjrth comes from the aoodluin ele m?nt ? Think about it, aiy patriot] ïriend, and tliiuk hai-d.
