United States Civil Service Examina tion. The United States Oivil Service Com mission has ordered that au exan ina tion be held by lts local board in tliis city on Saturday, December 5th, 1896, commencing at 9 o'clock, a. m., for the grade of clerk and carrier in the classified postal service. Only citizens of the United States eau be examined. The age liuiitations for this exaniination are asfollows: Clerk, over 18 years; Carrier, over 21 years and under 40 years. No application will be accepted for this exaniination unless filed with the undersigned, on the proper blank, before the hour of closing ousiness on November 21st, 1896. Applications should be fllled promptly, tlierefore, in order that time may remain for correction if necessary. Tlie Commission takes this opportunity of stating that the examinations are open to all reputable citizens of the Un"iTeTrtates who may desire to enter the service, without regard to race or to their political or religiou? alfiiliations. All such citizens are invited to apply. Tliey shall be examined, graded, and eertifled with entire impartiality, and wholly without regard to any consideration save their efficiency, as shown by the grades they obtain in the exaniination.
