"My dear girl, when a man asks you o become bis wife, you ought to put ome questions to your self," writes Rutb Ashmore tog iris on "Profession of Marriage," in the April "Ladies Home ournal." "Satisfy yourself that you ove this man well enough, not only to De happy with him, but, if need be, to ufler with him. Decide for yourself if bis be the man of all others in wbom ou will tind your ideal companion, fcr ompanionship means as much in mariage as in friendship. Then, you must hink of the future. Askyourself, too, whether tliis man brings out in you all bat is best, whether he provokcs that whicb is little and mean in you. or whether he piques you into making ight of that whicb is good. Decide vhether this man is the one with wliom you would be willing to grow old ; wheher this man is the one to whom you would, without hesitancy, submit quesions that trouble your conscience. Then, too, you must ask yourself what seems, perhaps, like a trivial question, whether this man is one whose name vou will feel honored in hearing, not jecause of any material lie may possess, but because of liis being an lionest genieman. Tliink out all these tliings, aak yourself question upon question, not only as to lus fitness, but as to yours, and then if you give him the loving answer that he wishes, try to become horoughly acquainted with him."
