The average yield of wheat per acre m the state, as estimated July 1, is 12.S6 bushels, in the southern counties 13.27 bushels, in the central 10.30 bushris, and in the northein 12. -10 bushels. These estiinates are based on nearly 3,100 reporta, nearly 700 of wliieh are irorn the soutbern connties, and 300 are from the central coalities. The estiSBte for the state is S-100 of a biishel less, and for the soutbern counties 2.03 fcushels more tlian the estiniate of the 1896 erop made .1 uly 1 of that year. The Hessian fly is reported from various points, but it doe.s not seem probable that material damage will be done to the erop. The supervisors returns of farm tistics, so f i :s footed. Indícate practically the same acreage as liarvested in 1896. Harvest will not be general even in the southern counties before tlie lóth. This is more tlian two weeks later than last year, when harvesting was beguu in the extreme southern part of the State as early as June )0, and the (-uiting was about completed tbrought out tjie southern counties by July 4. The number of bushels of wheat feported marketed in June is 490,278, as oinpared with 349,883 reported niarketíd in June, 1896, and the ainount marketed in the eleven nionths, August-June is 9,465,582 bushels, as compared with 8,669,482 bushels in the same months last year. TUe área planted to corn is estiinated . 4 por cent less in the state and 5 per cent less in the southern counties than in average years. In condition the erop averages in the state, southern and Dortheru counties 75, and in the central Tlie average condition of oats is 88. T-he estimated área planted to beana is T2 per cent of area in average years. The estímate oue year ago was, for the State, 94. The average plauted to potatoes is stimated at IS, per cent less than in average years in the southern counties and the state, 19 less in the central and 16 in the northem couuties. The average condition of the erop is now 88. The average condition of the meadows and pastures and of clover sowed this year is 99. The hay erop now being secured is one of the best in average jier acre ever harvested in the state. Apples are estimated to yield less than one-half and peaches less than ftae-fourth of an average erop.
