The small boy gazeth at the apple tree, Where, on a swaytüg limb, The apple hangeth, small and greeu, And, oh, it tempteth hlm 1 Forgotten are hls mother's words Ot warniug against sin ; He ahieth flrst some rocks at it, Then up the tree dotli shin. He reacheth flnally the bough. And reacheth ior the fi uit, It taketh the smal] boy, Indeed, An apple tree to loot. He eateth it, seeds, core and all, Without a bit of fear. And doth it hurt him? nota bit! He doth it every year.
