Commissioner Wesselius pays the Michigan Central railroad afine eompliuent in bis annual report. He says : "líothing can be added in tbe vvay of avorable comment on tliis excellent ine. Itis as near perfection in the way of construction, appointments, service and able management as can be conceived in modern railroading. No skill or expenditure bas been spared to make it tbe modern railroad of the country. Iinprovements are constantly eing added in the way to beavier and more substantial construction, interocking appliances, etc. The general appearance of the property, the sym. netry of the grade, cleanlinesa of tbe riglit of way, station buildings with ornamental and well kept grounds and erfect fences, attract special attention." In another report the commissioner says: "U pon the Air Line divison stone culverts have been substituted or ten bridges. Great attention bas jeen paid to the rounding out of the shoulders of the roadbed, which is a narvel of smoothness and beauty ; and ;he entire riglit of way jjresents a most landsoine and finished appearance. The fences are in perfect condition. The eutire line presenta- with its cars, its equipments, its service, its conveuiences and its buildings - a monument of liberality in expenditure, of farseeing railroad management, of good taste and of engineering skill of which the state inay justly be proud. Tbe station bouses are many of thein expeusive and haudsome structurea and in general everything that could be desired. A special point lias been made to beautify tbe station grouuds tliat are in many places well kept lawns, adorned witli graceful walks and a profusión of planta and ilovveis."
