The time having arrived for hearing the Telephone Coinpanies, the Michigan State, and the Michigan Bell Companies made their propositions through their representatives. Xo action was taken upon said proposition by the Board. Mr. Millard on Building Committee reported that lot south of jail could be purchased for two thousand two hundred dollars, $2200. Mr. Damon moved that report be accepted and committee discharged from furtlier consideration as to purchasing said lots. Carried. Mr. Kitson moved that tlie time for íearing tlie Soldier's Relief Committee e extended until 2 p. m. to-morrow. Carried. Gentlemen: - Your committee appointed to examine the accounts of tlie Superintendente of the Poor, beg leave to present the following : We have careiiilly examinad and compared their annual report whicli was referred to us witli their accounts as given by their books and find that they agree, also upon fnrther examinatión we find that tlieir ledger and stub book agree with bilis and vouchers. We commend thera for their systein of book-keeping, for its simplicity and accuracy. Your committee desire to thank tliesuperintendents for their kindness in assisting them in their -work as well as otherwise, also Mr. and Mrs. Shankland for their very pleasant and agreeable entertainment, all of which we appreciate. The Board have held thirteen meetings, have drawn as fees the sum of two hundred and twenty-four dollars and six cents, which includea postage. The Commissioners would respectfully recommend that the sum of fifteen hundred dollars be appropriated and placed to the credit of the Soldiers' Relief Commission to meet the demanda of the present year. The Commission extend their thanks to the county officers and Mr. Griffin. especially the deputy treasurer for the use of their offices in holding our meeting, thereby saving office rent.
