The Patent Office

Washington, Mareh 23. - Tho Comniissioner ot Patent, Mr. Montgomery, will retire from his office about the muidle oí April and resume the practiee of law at Detroit. KxKepresentative HalL, of Iowa, willsucceed Mr. Montgomery, and will assume the duties of the office about May 1. Mr. Hall is a native of Ohio, but has resided in Iowa since 1S39. He served severalterms in the Iowa Legislature and was a memter of the last Congress.
