The Chelsea town hall has been supplied with a new piano. The Baptist society of Manchester, is without a pastor. Joseph Guskey, of Dexter, has removed to Battle Creek. Mrs. Regena Brown, of Freedom, died on the 16th, of oíd age, being 79 years old. Eight rams belonging to R. W. Mills, of Saline, sheared 200L pounds this season. The Michigan etate trap shooters held their ancual shoot at South Lyon last week. The common council of Manchester, last week Bxed the amount of liquors bonds at $3,000. Dr. E. Forbes, of Belleville, was found dead in nis bed, last Wednesday morning ; cause, dropsy. The Manchester school board have reengaged Prof. Philips as superintendent at a salary of $900. Chelsea amatuers presented the drama, " Enlisted for the War," at Dexter, last Tueaday evening. The Chelsea high school has started a reading room for the benefit of the scholars during recess. The Stony Creek and Milan mail route has been changed, and now Stony Creek gets their mail at Urania. The new roller machinery has been placed in the York milis, nd the mili started up again, last week. Rev. Mili and family, who have resided at Whitmore Laking during the winter, removed to Salem last week. A doublé house in Ypsilanti is occupied by the Armg and the Hands, while one Foote resides across the Street. Raymond Wright, former'y of Chelsea, has returned from Kansas, being called home by the sickness of bis father. John Kensler, of Manchester, had his left arm broken, last week, his horse running away and upsetting the buggy. Al. Stevens, the proprietor of the Lake House, at Whitmore Lake, is making changes and repairs on the premises. Thos. D. Lane, the newly elected supervisor from Salem, got a severe shaking up by his horses running away, a few dajs Rgo. Mr. A. Dav, who has been landlord of the Ayres House, at Milan for the past two years, has gone out of the hotel business. Lewis Feldkamp, of Manchester, has lost his thumb and three fingere of his left hand, by getting too close to a buzz 8aw. Thirteen eels were taken out of the water wheels at the roller milis, Manchester, one day last week, some of them being large ones. Comstock Post, G. A. R , of Manchester, mustered in several new members last week, and are making preparations for Decoration day. Frank C. Banghart and Miss Ella S. A Iban were married on April 19, at the residence of the bride's paren ts in Ypsilanti townsbip. Nathan C. Putnam's remains were removed from the London vault Wednesday afternoon and buried in the Spaulding cemetery at Milan. The council members at Milan must be very busy at present, as the Leader records two attempts at meeting last week which failed for want of a quorum. The woman's christian temperanoe union of Monroe county, held their annual convention in the Union church at Milan, last Wednesday and Thursday. Oards are out announcing the marriage, next Tuesday evening, at the residence of the bride's parents at Farmington, of Mis Lana Gates and M. T. Orawforc1, of Ypsilanti. Dr. A. B. Conklin, a former resident of Manchester, who has been practicing at Elk Rapids lately, has returned to Manchester and taken up his father's practice there. The Saline town board have made the following appointments : E. DePuy, supervisor pro tem; Dr. S. W. Chandler, health officer; J. M. Gross and A. M. Clark, board of review. N. W. Holt & Co., of Manchester, have put in a new turbine water wheel and made a number of other improvements in their mili by which they are able to turn out 25 barrels of flour more a day. Friends of Miss Aggie McKone, an unsuccessful competitor for a prize at the Catholic fair, recently held at Chelsea, have presented her with an elegant pair of gold and diamond bracelets to heal her wounded feelings. The Methodist congregation at Whitmore Lake and Jesse Bennett of the same place are having trouble. Mr. Bennett owns the lane leading to the parsonage farm and has closed it up, all efforts to the contrary notwithstandiog. An effort is being made by Jackson merchants to have the L. S. Ry., put on an extra train fro n Manchester to that place in order that they may catch the pstronage of the Manchesterites. The Enterprise is opposing the scheme. John Van Atta, of Salem, has a record for keeping first-class horses, but last week he purchased at Howell a team of dapple greys that outshine anything in the country. John says he did not buy these to sell but will keep them for his own use. At a meeting of the Saline cornet band held Tuesday evenir g, the folio wing officers were elect for the ensuing year: Prpsident, Preston H. Ronse; secretary, Clifford E. Bassett ; business manager and treaaurer, A. W. Lashier; leader, A. F. Clark; librarían, Chas. Sauer; drum major, Ransome B. Rouse. There is strong talk of organiziner an athletic association at Ypsilanti. They propose to rent a building and fit it up with a complete outfit for gymnnstic purposes, and lease grounds for playing base hall, foot ball, lawn tennis and cricket. Ncthing better could be done for the youth of our sister city. A Lima voung lady, in one year ending April 1, 1887, baked 686 loaves of bread, 673 biscuits, 271 pies, 1001 friedcakes, 2232 cookies, 80 loaf cakes, and pancakes once a day for three months of the year, and all this for one family of four persons during seven months of the year and of five persons dunner the remaining five months. - Chelsea Herald. The residence of Alfred Miller, on north Ann Arbor gtreet, was entered by burglars last night, and $30 in money and a sil ver watch stolen. It appears that an entrance was made by unlockmg the front parlcr door opening upon the porch, from there the burglars made their way to Mr. Miller's bed-room, where they took his clothes from off the foot of his bed, carried them outside to the garden and rifled them of the money and watch, and then decamped.
