To the Editor: Does the Argus think its kick at Sunday closing is in the interest of good order ? Can it fiad no higber mission than to thus be voice for the worst element of society? Wliat is there in the law of '72 só "blue" as to deserve the sneera and contempt of good citizeas ? Would not its f aithful observance be an honor to the city ? It will be remeinbered that our late democratie mayor started out aboutas bravely against lawbreakers as our present republican mayor has; did the Argus help tone him down to let them aloue and to write the resolution against the prohibition amendment? Is it possible for a democratie paper to aim higher than to make the democratie party slum party 1 Cannot the Argus see in the signs of the times a cali and an opportunity for better journalisra, to rally parties on higher ground ? Will it not feel befer satisfied with itself if it is trying to leaJ to better thoughtand habit? United States Senator-elect Reagan's letter, declaring his purpose to support the prohibition amendment in Texas, will be good readiner for the Argus. lts key note is : "I regret that demócrata should seek to identify that great and good historie party with the fortuues and fate of whiekey shops, drunkards.and crimináis."
