What was probably the leading society event of the season took place on last Friday evening, in the form of the Germán given at the Pai TJpsilon chapter house. Seventeen couples were present, the music being furnished by the Chequamegons, and the Germán being led by Miss Angelí and Mr. Thomas. The broad veranda was solidly enclosed by bunting of garnet and old gold, forming a fke room, furnished with tables and chaira and lighted by numerous chinese lanterns. The veranda thus formed a beautiiul and bnlliaat little place in which supper was served about eleven o'clock. In seating, there was upon each chair, a little patin envelope addressed to the personwho was tooccapy it, and with the post mark and stamp of some distant country. The post mark gave the exact date and hour at which dancing commenced. ,Twelve figures of the Germán were danced. All but one of these were favor figures, the favors being decidedly unique and beautiful. Most of the figures were origina!, one having an air of mystery thut'is said to have been quite taking. Those present from a distance were Miss Johnson, of New York city, who was the guest of Miss Angelí ; M iss Isham, of Detroit, who was visiting Miss Condón ; and Mr. Bowen Shoemaker, of Jackson, and Mr. John Morris, Jr., of Fort Wayne, Ind., who were the guests of the Psi U. fraternity. ________
