Plug hats have captured this quiet iittle burg. Mr. and Mrs. I. Clark visited at Clinton, Sunday. G. B. Mason took in the metropolis last Tuesday. Mr. Voorheis, of Superior was in town the lóth inst. John White and family, of Olinton, spent the 16th in town. Rev. W. H. Benton visited at Howell one day last week. Farmers are very bu3y in the cornfield and our streets look deserted, except evenings. There is some talk of building a woolen mili, boot and shoe factory, and boring for gas. Mrs. Bostwick, operator and ticket agent at Dexter, visited friends here the 16th. The wheat erop does not promise to be a very large yield, it having been damged by the frost. A special pension agent was in town Monday looking up certain pensions that have been granted. Mr. and Mrg. B. P. Davenport and Miss Kary Davenport have gone to Colorado SpringB for their health. The ball game between the Union school nine and a picked nine resulted in favor of the latter by 14 to 8. The May festival, af the M. E. church, was a grand success and netted the society the nice Iittle sum of $33. The Misses Hattie Ford, Lulu Bliss, Edessa Aldrieh, Eva Clark, Edna Aldrioh, Arda Clark and Fannie Caldwell, visited the poultry farm the 14th inst. At the election of the I. O. G. T. the following new officers for the ensuing three moths were eleoted: W. C. T., Mu6 Edison Aldrieh; W. V. T., Mr. Nelson Hall; W. F. S., Mr. Geo. Walker; W. T., Mrs. Hattie Ford; W. M., Mr. Archie Parsone; W. T. G., Miss Agnee Clark.
