Cattle Kings Fail
Omaha, Neb., May 17.- A dispatch received fiere yes,erday f rom Cheyenne announces the iailure of Swan Brothers, of Cheyenne, the cattle kings of Wyoming. They have made a general assignment tor the benefit of all creditors. Liabilities, from Ï53Ü,000 to $1,100,000; assets nominal, amounting to about the same. They claim they will be able to pay in full. The ilrm is composed of A. H. and Thomas S. Swan, and they have interests in Chicago, Búllalo, New York, Kansas City, Cleveland, Bioux City, Philadelphia, Omaha and Cheyenne. The cause of the failure is the result of shrinkage for several years in values of their business. The iailure will undoubtedly affect, to a Limited degree, at least, the affairs oí a ■aumber of Omaha men who are heavily interested in a South Omaha land syndicate and the Union Yards, in which anterprises the Swans are intere3ted.
