Chicago, June 7.- Martin Culver, an inmate of the Jefferson Insano Asylum, was struck on the head Saturday night by L. V. Tewison, another patiënt, with a waterpaiL His skull was fractured, and at four o'clock yesterday niorning he died. Culver did not regain consciousness before he died, and Tewison gave no coherent explanation. Tlio coronar will investígate. Cincinnati, June 7.- In this city yesterday Fred Bauer fatally shot his mistress, wounded another woman and then killed himself. PiTTsnuuon, Pa., Juno 7.- Frederick Herman, a laborer of this city, killed his baby-daughter yestorday, bat his wifo until he thought hor dead, and then cut his own throat. The tragedy was the result of religious manía. Millwood. Ky., June7. - John H. Fields, a farmer living near this place, killed his wife Saturday evening, whom ho suspected of infidelity, and his two sons, who attempted to daíend thc woman, after which he committed suicide. Hüros, D. T., June 7. - Near this place yesterday 8imeon Nelson shot and killed Mrs. Shaw, her iifteen-year-old 9on, and her sister, aged twenty-two, then fatally wounded a man named Kilsey, and blew out his own brains. The tragedy was the result of a oontest over a tree claim which had been dec.ded in favor of Mrs. Shaw. DuBtfQUE, la., Juno 4. - Christian O3tafC, aged sixty-three, and wife, aged twentyeight, both having children by former marriages, quarreled on theirfarm in Concord township, ThursJay morning, because Ostaff refused to buy his wifo a pair of shoes. Oataflf crushed his wife's head to a jelly with a hatchet, and then shot himself, both being found doad when their children returned from the field. PniLADELPnfA. June 4. - In this city yesterday morning Robart G. Hall, poet aud actor, murdered his paramour, Mrs. Lillian Rivers, and then cut his own throat, but not, it is thought, in a fatal manner. The woman was the wife of an actor knoivn to tho profession as James Reynolds, who attempted to kill her April 19, and then shot himself, but recently recovered. Beaceville, I1L, June 4.- Yesterday morning John Connolly, a miner, shot and killed Mr3. John Stoddard, and then shot himself. After belng placed in a cell in the jail he cut his throat. No cause for tho tragedy is assigned.
