The fruit gíowers of Washtenaw county will hail with considerable delight the announcement that a manuractory is to be erected in Ann Arbor, for making all sinds of jellies, preserving of fruit, and for making eider. It has long been the desire of our fruit grower that a factory of this kind be erected, as ït will thus enaae them to better dispose of their fruit. One of the drawbacks they have heretofore experienced has been disposing of :heir fruit at a profit when the market had become overstocked. This difficulty will now be averted. When prices get low they can have their fruit preserved or made nto jelly, and thus dispose of it at fair profit Messrs. Allmendinger & Schneider are the enterprising firm who iiave taken hold of the matter, and as they tiave alwaye been identified with the city3 interests and been successful in whatever they have undertaken, there is but little doubt that the new factory will be a success from the start. The old bottlmg works which stand back of the Central milis, will be used for the new factory, which will be remodeled and enlarged, work on the same having already commenced. When completed the building will oe 30x80 feet, three stories high, with a boiler-room 10x27 feet. The first floor will be used for making jelly, the second floor for making eider and for a store-room, and on the third floor wil) be the evaporators and a room for preparing the fruit. The machinery has all been purchased, and the firm expect to be able to begin operations in time for the fall erop. If the business proveí successful a canning factory will be added next fall.
