New Yokk, Sept. 3. - The state of trade is reported generally encouraging. In the Northwestern States the number of sales was sald to be greater during the past week than tor several months bef ore. The business failures throughout the country during the last seven days number for the United States 175, for Canada 24, a total of 199, compared with 185 last week and 190 for the corresponding week last year.
