City of Mexico, Sept 18.- Independence Day was celebrated yesterday with great enthusiasm. The city is finely decorated, the stars and stripes being entwined with the Mexican flag. President Diaz read the declaration of independence in front of the National palace. The great feature of the day was the grand procession, in which 10,000 Mexican troops, commanded by veteran GenerĂ¡is, took part The American allegorical cars were greatly applauded. They represented the landing of Columbus, Hidalgo and Washington and the Goddess of Liberty.
