The School ot' Music opens to-day. The various classes will meet on Saturday. Examination8 have been in progresa this week. The boilers for the new boiler house have arrived. S. Tokita is the latest arrival at the university from .Tapan. The Board of Rsgenls will hold a meetiog Thursday, October 8. The library was closed Monday on account of being renovated. Indications are that the freshman medical class wil', be larger this year than ever. The homceopaahic college will open Friday evening. Dr. Obetz will give the flrst lecture. Prof. Rogers will deliver the introduc tory lecture of the law course on Saturday morning, Oct. lat, at ten o'clock. The S. C. A. invite new students to cali at their rooms and regipf.e: and to attend the Wednesday evenins; jjrayer-meetings. Classes will meet their respective instructors at the time and places stated in the armouncement on and after i cxt Monday. Maj. H. Soule returned from Üeaver, Colorado, Tuesday, where he had been attend'ng the Sovereign Grand Lodge of thel. O. O. F. Work on the medical ruilding has been rapidly pushed ahead the past week, and everything will be in readiness for college work next Monday. George DeHaven, who won the wrestling match at the last Field Day, has turned, and declares that he wiil not enter any of the sports this year. Recuesta for additional hours must be deposited in the faculty box before Saturday, October 8. First year students will not be entitled to extra hours. The course in the History of Art will be given in two lectures a week during the first semester, snd will uot be continued during the second semester. The first meeting of the Choral Union will be held at the usual time aad place, on Tuesday, October 8, and all those inclined to j -in are requested to be present. E. W. Groves, of the university, is in charge of a party of government employees, making a survey for dams which are beiDg built near the headwaters of the Mis8issippi river. The only change in the announcement of the engineering laboratory is that the course in forging will not begin until about Thanksgiving, when it is expeoted that the new forge room will be completed. The School of Music opens to-day with a full quota of teachers. Lessons begin at once. Pupils should cali without delay at the office in university hall for the asaignment of hours. Office epen from 8:30 to 12 a. m. and from 2 to 5 p. m. J. M. Brannum, who graduated in the law department last year, has not been heard from since he left Ann Arbor, by either his paren ts, who live in Missouri, or his friends in this city, and there are fears that 8ome mishap has befallen him. Admission to the teachers' course in Latin will depend on the approval of the officers of the Latin department. Applicants electing the course can leave their names either with Professor Frieze, Professor E. Jones, or instructor Miller.
