A few weeks ago The Register contained the fnllowing item, under the head " Who Can Beat This ?": " John Tate, residing in the south-west corner of Pittsfield, this 8eason sheared 170 grade sheep, mosly ewes, that averaged eluven and a half pounds to the fleece. Twenty six ewe lambs averaged 10J lhs.; twelve yearüng bucks averaged 13J lbs. The unwashed wool was gold at 19 cents straight." J hn Braun, of Superior, inform u that from 50 gradpd sheeo he sheartd 540 nound of wool. The flnrk consisted of 24 breeding ewee, 1 ram, 10 yerlings and 15 Iatnb9. He gold it, washed, for 30 cents per pound, straight. Mr. Braun wants to hear of some one who can beat this record.
