The school board held a special school meeting Tuesday evening lo considor a proposition made by Prof. M. L. D'Ooge as president of the board of trustees of the students' Christian association. The a-8ociaton desires to add to their lot by purchasing of school district No. I, a strip, one rod tront, which adjoins their lot on the Dorth. It is on State-st. The school board passed the following which calla for a school meeting Feb. 10, at Fireman's hall, to eee whether the district will authorize tho board to sell one or two rods of land : WhereĆ­s, The students' Christian association has made application to purchase land off from the south slde of the premises owned by the school district on the south side of Statest between William and Jefferson st., and Whkbeas, The board of trustees has not power to sell and convey such land unless by authority of the legal voters of the district given at a meeting of such voters legallyheld ; therefore Resolved, That the secretary cali a meeting of the qualified voters of the district at Fireman's hall, on the lOth day of Pebruary 18S8, at 7 p. m., to act upon the question whether they wfll authorize therustees todeed one oijtwo rods of land off from the south side of the premises owned by the district on Statest, between Jefferson and William, to the studente' Christian association of the Univereity upon such terms as the board of trustees deern just and proper.
