lHicaoo, March 5. - The strike oí engineers on the Chicago, Burlington fc Quincy road is practically unchanged. The trains are moving with some regularity, and several freights have been put in motion. The idea is gaining ground that the strike will extend to many other roadR, on the ground that they have been extending aid to the Burlington. Chicago, March 0.- There was no material change yesterday in the strike on the CMcago, Burlington Je Quincy road, and fiom the etandpoint of the Brotherhood there seemed to be but little encouragement of a speedy discontinuance of hostil ities and a peaceable adjustment to the vital questions at issue. Passenger Agent Morton said he considered the backbone of the Btrike broken. He said the Burlington was iiow running all the passenger trains necessary to accommodate business, and that freight business on the road had about assumed its normal condition. Chicago, March 7. - Conferences of varied degrees of importance were held with the same degree of silence at the strikers' headquarters yesterday. Many consoling dispatches and more comforting checks were received by Chief Arthur, but no evidence of startling developmonts were parent The Knights of Labor assemblies sent as many dispatches as the Brotherhood divisiona, but not as much money. The rumors touching renewed attempts at arbitration were denied all around. The Btrikers had heard nothing of it, and the Chicago, Burlington fc Quincy officials denied that the rumor had any foundation. Mr. Sargent said the Brotherhood was still ready to arbitrate.
