A Frightful Accident
Kavannah, Ga., March 20.- A terrible acsident. causing the death oí twenty-two persons and the seriona injury of about forty more, happened on the Savannah, Florida Sí Great Western railroad at Blackshear Saturday morning. The vestibule f ast mail called the "Cuban" train, which runs through f rom New York to Tampa, Fla., went throngh the trestle at Hurricane river and plunged forty f eet to the ground beneatb. The wreek was a fearful one, every car except the private coach of R R Wilbur, president of the Lehigh Valley road, being crushed to splinters. George Gould and his wife wero on the train, but were not badly hurt A son of President Wilbur wae killed. The trestle of Hurricane river is 800 feet in lengtb, and the break includes 400 feet at the west end, the tender and engino lodging againBt the abutinent The baggage-car left the track on the trestle, which accounte for the accident The ties show where the wheels cut deep lnto them. It was this car that, by its strain, dragged the tender down, the engine having safely crossed over. .
