April 10.- The illness of Roscoe Conkling yesterday assumed an alarinlng phase, and the physiclans in attendancs considered his condition as extremely preoarious and his reoovery very doubtf uL An abscess at the base of the brain, near the right ear, had produced influminatioa of the brain, and it was necessary to perform an operation to remove the pus, after which Mr. Conkling was relieved. New York, April 11.- Reporta up to 10 o'clock last evening from the bedsido of Mr. Conkling indícate a favorable turn In the sufferer's condition. He had beneflted by a refreshing sleep, his mind was clearer, tus pulse and temperature more satisfactory; and in a general way the physicians were much encouraged. They were, however, unwllling to commit themselves to the opinión thathe will recover.
