At the common council meeting, Monday night, the fotlowing members were present: Mayor Beakes, Recorder Bach, Aldermen Barker, Wines, Ware, Hammond, O'Mara, Spokee, Kearos, Martin, Herz, AUmendinger, and Sutherland. A petition was read from D. Henning, setting forth that by reason of the closing up of Pontiac atreet, his property near the depot had had been greatly damaged, and he desired an investigation. Referred to street committee. The city attorney was added to the committee for the present. The church of the Disciples of Christ were allowed to occupy one-third of the street in front of their property, for buildDg purposes. The bill of ex City Attorney Joslyn, of $79.50, balance due for past services, was laid on the table. The bill of E. B. Gidley, $75, for services on nuisance committee, was referred to board of health for proper certiöcution. lne report ot M. J. Fritz, examiner of the books of recorder and treasurer, showng some clerical errors of lo importance, was receive dand placed on file. On motion of Aid. Allmendinger, a plank side-walk was ordered built on west i-ide of Fourth st. from s. w. corner of Summit and Fourth, to a point eightrods from Summit st. The following report of the finance commit'ee shows the amounts of the ward funds: lst ward, $12.75; 2nd, $80.70; 3rd, $04.35; 4th, $120.01; 5th. $268.14; 6ch, $175; gen'l s't fund, $193.20; general fund, $05.79; contingent fund, $429.17; city cemetery, $9.00; total, $1244.23. The consideration of liquor bonds was then taken up, and the folio win g bonds approved: Mann Bio's, MiIIman & McNally, John Kehoe,(some objection was here made to surety A. L. Polhemu, as he was alredy on anotber bond. Att'y McKernan, who drew the bond, aróse and said that as a matter of law the bond was not good, but under the ruling of the council the band was good, and he thoughtshould be received. Ho wever the council rtturned the bond), Wm. Goetz, Chri?. Carey, Fred Reimold, llary Schaible, Wm. Laetz, Geo. Wbiterly, Geo. Weidlich. Cjncerjing the deposit of the city'i money, a communication was read from the Savings bank offering to pay 3.1 per. cent, to be credited quarterly. The Farmers' and Mechanics' Bank offered 3 per cent. The first bid was accepted. Eli Moore complained to the council, that the city had taken so muoh gravel from the street near bis residence. as to endanger bis property. It was roferred to the street committee with pDwer to act. The health officer, Dr. Breakey, was allowed $100 for a years' services. Oa motion of Aid. Kearns, the following board of review was appointed; lst ward, John Thompson; 2od, W. J. Clark; 3rd. E. P. Mason. ' The question of an extra assessment to provide for the ei: y funda was referred to the finance committee. It was moved that the bill of A. J. Sawyer for three years' rent of market, of $150.00, be ordered paid and the market be disoontinued. The matter was finally referred to committep, to report at next m e'iug.
