" STORMS AND FI.OODS. Des Moisés, la., May 4.-A storm of wind vesterday afternoon struck the little village of Lacona, in Warren County, demolishing a two-story building used as a store and buryrag m the ruins a farmer, Leonard Wilson. He was dead when taken f rom the ruins. Two boys who were in the store just before it feil are missing. Two other men were shghtly ïniured Several buildings were unrooled. The boys reported missing vvero afterward found unharmed, having escaped from the building during the storm. Winona, Minn., May 4.-The river is nearly fiftcen feet high, and the town is partly under water. The levee is flooded and the elevator and flour milis shut down The Tremont House is surrounded by water and the Fibre works can only be. approached by boats. The residente oí the Pond Lily addition are weU out to sea. They reach their houses by boat. and sleep on tables and in hammocks. The lierald press-room is flooded. , Milwaukee, May 4.-Eeports from the SUte show that the water in the Wiscon sin Chippewa and Black rivers is still rising. Considerable damage has been dome at different points. Qcincy 111 May 4.- The Mississippi at rhis point is now sixteen feet above low water mark and still slowly rising. Camden, Ark., May 5.-A terriflc cyclone passed over the eastern yortion of Ouachita County late Thursday aftcrnoon. It struck Josiah Herson's place, smashine his houses and fencing. The storm traveled from the southeast:to the northeast, and its track was about 150 yards wide. Trees were twisted and torn from their roots and hurled about like straws. Damage is also reported at Blaka and other place in the neighborhood. Texarkana, Ark., May 5.-Thursday evening a heavy tornado and hail-storm passed north of the city, unroofing homes and uprooting trees. There are reports of much damage to crops and much killing of "berrixo, Mo., May r,.-Late Thursday afternoon several buildinss in this place were blown down in a storm and James Myers, of Memphis, Mo., wal killed. Pekín, 111., May 5.- A cyclone struck this place yesterday, unroofing buildings, uprootiniï trees and blowing down chimneys and felices in its path. Ho person was killed. Kassas City, Mo., May 8.- A hail-storm in Gass and Bates counties, Mo., yesterday destroyed large tracts of grain, and many sheep were killed. Six houses in this city were struck by lightning during the storm. Wikosa, Minn., May 9.-Continuous pouring rains throughout the State have igain. eaused the river to rise. It is higher than it has been at any time this .vear. Reports from the Eau Claire, St. Croix and Minnesota rivers say they are again rising. A rapid rise is therefore expected here by to-day. The low lands are still submerged and the milis on them are not yet able to resume work. Nearly every body living near the river has removed to a place of saiety, and as all have removed their üousehold goods and other valuables it is not, likelv that this further rise will do much damage. DCBfQrE, Ia., May 9.- The flood in the Mississippi is steadily increasing. Much damage being done. The water now covers the sidewalk on the levee, and will soon go over the lower floors of stores there, from which merchandise is being removed. The lower floors of dwelUnga on the flats ín the upper part of the city are covered with water and many are rendercd homeless.
