At the meeting last Saturdsy, Prof. B. E. Nichols, chairman of the committee, which has done such good work for the society, saviug for the fruit-growers last year, from 500 to 600 dollars on transportaron, gave a full report of his work so far, so that shippers will also have cheap transportation of berries if at least fifty buBhels are shipped per day. Some fruitgrowers who never bear any burden of the society, neither in money nor time, who, however, are always ready to take advantage of the hard work of their fellows, have even neglected to pay their last yeare tax of one cent per bushei, which the active members paid cheerfjlly lone ago to Prot Nichok Mr. Ganzhorn reported that the fruit exchange of South Haven is incorporated. The director have appointed a fruit spector who attends to the shipping and distribution of fruit and rejeots inferior fruit and measures. This excharge has eaved to the fruit men last year $1.50 per barrel on app'ea alone. J. D. Baldwin: We should in time make arrangements for shipping peachei in refxigerator cars, especially at the ripening of Crawford peaches and Bartlett pears. E. Baur: The berry busineis should not be overlooked. Last year strawberries did cot pay because large growers flooded the markut here and full quart baskets had to coinpe e wiilj smaller ba-kets at the same price.
