Last Sunday morning another, and probably the most disastious fire of the year in gome respecta, oceurred in the second ward, in the burning of the extensivo capsule works of Geo. W. BullĂa & C!o. This firm had been in business here not quite & year and had built up a large trade. The building, a large woodeu one, was owned by the Arbor Arbor Improvement company association, of which Col. H. S. Dean is president. The fire was disnovered aboutl a. m., and the alarm given. When the fire department reached the pretnises, the fire had a good start, with a Btrong wind blowing from the eouth. In a few moments four streams were playing on the blazing pile and by hard persistent work the flames were extinguished, saving the east half of the building. The fire was undoubtedly the work of an incendlary, as there are very suspicioua circumstances pointing that way. The capsule comp-rny's loss will be about $12,000, insured for $7,500. The building waa valued at $4,500, insured for $3,000. All books and papers in the office were eaved. Col. Dean says if the capsule company wishes to go on with their business, the Improvenoent company will immediately erect a new building. About 30 hands, including 20 girls, are thrown out of employmfint, and it is earnestly hoped that the business will be resumed. The work of the firemen on the north side of the building, who were compelled to fight the fire in the midat of a thick suffocating smoke, to say nothing of the intense heat thrown there by the south wind, was heroic, and would be a credit to any fire department.
