J. T. Jacobs fpent Tuesday at Detroit. Dr. D. A. McLachlan has gone to Holly and Pontiac today. Mrs. E. K. Frueauff returned Monday from a visit to EaRt Saginaw. Postmaster Duflfy has been on the sick list for a couple oí days past. Editor Perry F. Powers and wife, of Cadillac, were in the city Saturday. Ure. F. A. Magon, of Brooklyn, N. Y., is visiting her niece, Mrs. G. W. Millen. A. M. Doty has been confined to his house with a severe cold during the last week. L. P. Hall and wife left Saturday for a five weeks' trip to New Orleans and the south. Mrs. M. L. Walker, who has been vii-iting friends in Chicago, returned home Tuesday. Morris Sale, of St. Lcuis, Mo., spent Suuday and Mouday wiih his brother-inlaw, Sani. Langsdorf. Seward Cramer came down from Hastings Monday, and speet a few days with his mother in this city. Miss Josie Henion returned to her home at Toledo, Suturday, from whence sha goes in a few days to spend severa months at Washington. Miss Ruth Hoppin, who wa9 preceptress in the high school here a number o years ago, has returned to Ann Arbor and is Diuking some special investigations in science at the unitersity. A. L. Noble and Geo. Apfel went to Butler, Ind., Monday and rtttirned yes terday. lír. Noble has decirled to open a braneh store there, whieh Mr. Apfel wil have charge of. It will be opened within a cnuple of weeks. Mrs. Dr. Arndt, now stopping for her health at the famous hotel del Coronado San Diego, Cal , has been securing some of the t-xquUite eea mo?s found in tha vicinity, in the beauty of which some o her friends in Ann Arbor are sharing. J. E. Beal left Monday nicht for Washington and Baltimore. Before returning he will attend the L. A. V. meet and sessions of the national Republican clubs a B'il'imore, and the inaugural ceremonies of President Harrisoa at Washington. Mrs. Israel Hall, tosether with her sister, Mis. Phillipp, of Syracuse, left Tuesday night for Cincinnati. Here they join Mr. nd Mrs. L. P Hall and a party of Detroit friends,numbering about twenty in all. The entire party will then start on a pleasure trip through the south, expecting to spend about five weeks in taking in the sights. Louis Blitz, of Detroit, carne out Monday moruing to visit his biother, S. S. Blitz. He was on the train which was struuk by a l'reight train while standing at the Ypsilnnti depot. He has been in many railroad smash ups, and at the firt alarm of the whistle, he grabbed his valide and juraped, being neaily a block away wlun the engines came together.
