Oa Saturday last about thirty of the neighbors and friends of Henry K. White surprised him by invading hn home with emiling faces, .cordial greetings and basket8 lull of good things to eat, in celebration of bis sixty-eighth birthday. Mr. White was boro in Palmyra, N. Y., but carne to Michigan in 1824, when he was three years old, his fatlier being one of the very first settlers ín this regiónHe has seen tbis wliole section of country change from a wilderness without roads, even, and inhabited only by Induns and wild animáis, to what it now is. Most of those who took part in this surprise party were old neighbors who had also been pioneers in the country. One lady carne, who wsg eighty-fivö years old, yet remarkably strong and Tigorous. In the talk of the afternoon raany reminiscences of the olden times were called to mind. Rev. Mr. Sunderland and wife were among the number of those present, and both made pleasant addresses. After a bonnliful supper the company separated, wishing Mr. White many happy returns of the day.
