Resolntions of Kespect. Tbe news of the death of Mrs. Charles Kendall Adams was received by the Ladies' Library Association with deep sorrow and regret. As its able and efficiënt President for eleven years and during two terras of office, she had won the enüre confidence of its meinbers in her wisdom and dlscretion, while their esteem and afteetion for her grew with the years, as they came to recognie the uoselfish devotion, earnestness of purpose, and strength of character that were hidden under an exterior always gentle and retiring. When her rerooval from Ann Arbor necessitated her resignation, it was accepted with much regret, and our kindest wishes for her happiness followed her to her new home and new duties. Since then, proofs of her eontinued and undiminished interest in the Library have repeatedly been given, and will always begratefully recalled. We can never forget that to her energy and hopefulness we are largely indebted for the realization of our long-cherisoed desire for a permanent bome; while to her unwearled labora la its behalf, her courage under difficulties, unfailing enthusiasm, and confldeuce in ite ultímate prosperity and success, the Library owes a debt of gratitude whleh it can only ropay by holding her name in loving and grateful remembrance. May the example of alife so unselfish, useful, and good, inspire many with a like spirit. The members of the board, including those formerly associated with Mrs. Adams, unite in paying this aö'ectionate tribute to hermemory, and extend the assurance of their sincere and heartfelt sympathy to him who has lost a loved companion and ftithful helper, and to the son who mourns for a devoted mother.
