Kansar City, Mo., Aug. 3- A daring thlef entered the jewelry store of F. G. Altman at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon, seeured (1,500 worth of diamonds and made nis escape. He was well dressed, and when he asked to be shown some diamonds a tray containing a iarge number of valuable Bet stones was placed on the counter before him. After a few minutes examination of the jewels he grabbed a handful and bolted for the door. He was followed liy Mr. Altman and a Iarge crowd for some distance, but by flourishing a revolver in the faces of bis pursuers he succeeded in keeping them at bay. The thief then went through a saloon into an alley, where he entered the basement ot a book-store, walked up the stairs and passed through the niain door unmoleeted, the clerks having no suspicton that he was a thief. Keaching the etreet he entered a hack and was driven away, since when he has not been seen.
