Mr. J. D. Baldwin presidid at the September möeting of the Washtenaw Pom- ological Society. The correppnding secretary read two Communications from iLdw. C. "Reíd, secretary of the Michigan State llortii.'ultural Society, in regard to the great Detroit exposition and the duty of Michigan horticulturisU tomakean exhibition worthy of the State, and that Washtenaw should not march in the rear. The grandeít fruit show ever made ia the Northwest 9 promtsed in the circular for ' the Detroit exposition. Evart H. Soott, superintendent of the fruit department, addressed the society, describing the grand preparations made al the exposition grounds for exhibits oi fruit, vegetables and flowers. The premiums in this class amount tofSOO. It was resolved that the fruit growers of Washtenaw coiiDty make n.eÉfortto lexhibit tóithe Detroit exposition the fruits 1 ' ' i of the season. Mr. Soott said that he was goingto exhibit without entering for a premium. Mr. Baur said he sent in his entries on the 3Oth of August. J. J. Robison promi8ed to send a selection of winter apples to the fair. Every one should study the premium list and seud what he can to make the fruit exhibit from Washtenaw county a sucoess. Our own county fair should have a first class exhibit. The president and Charles Parshall reported on transportation. The expenses for berries were $40, of which not more than $14 were paid in. All fruit snippers ghould at once pay this small tax. A vote of thanka was tendered to the committee on transportation and to Mr. Parshall for his like action on this end of the road, to the agent at Detroit and the railway officials connected with fruit traneportation, who so far bave given general satisfaction. The grape erop was reported very short - not one-fifth of a erop. J.D. Duncan had an exhibit of Gne seedling peaches and of Alexander apples. Mr. Toms, the florist, exhibited for dietribulion a fine selection of dahlias and other flowers which the ladies present especially enjoyed.
