The boma of Stephen Mills in Pittsfield was the scène of a happy and j oyous uvent last Saturday, the occasion being none less than the celebration of the 50th annivei sary of the marriage of the owner aud his estimable wife, Mr. and Airs. Stephen Mills. The relatives and friends hac gathered together to assist the parties in celebrating the event, and it was celebrated in eood, old-fashioned gtyle. Mr and Mrs. Mills stood before the assemblage and rene wed the vows rrnde 50 years before, Deacon Geo. Henion officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Mills are the parents of seven children - all boys - and all were present except George, who resides at Boyne City. The children are James and Clark E. of Mancelona, George of Boyne City, Fred of Ypsilanti, and Frank E.,"I. H., and Challes of Pittiöeld. The family, relatives and frisnds gthered together made a crowd of nearly 70 that sat down to a bountiful repust at 6 o'clock. After supper toasts were in order and the happy couple, who have traveled through half a century of married 1 fe together, received the united congratulatinn--, and hter on the God-speeds, of the enlire party. It is not oiten that couples are spared to celébrate their golden wedding, but to celébrate it on the same spot where they püghted their troth öO years before, is still more remarkable. Buc such was the case with Mr. and Mra. Mills. On Sept. 21, 1839, they were married at the residence of David DePue, one half mile from their present home, to whiah place they moved as eoon as the ceremony was completed. Mr. !Mills moved to Pittsfield from New York state in 1837, and has lived there sioce. The relatives and friends remembered therii on this auspicious occasion with a lrge number ot nandsome p'esents.
