Columbvs, O,, Jan. 31.- The hearing in the Marquis-Lampson contest for the Lieutenant-Governorsbip was concluded in the Ohio Senate Thursday evening and Lampson (Rep.) was ousted by a striot party voto. The Republiean members led a number of protests against the marnier of proceeding, and the conclusión was attended with stormy scènes. The question carried by IS to 16, a strict party vote. Lampson said in a short speech that he had been legally elected Lieutenant-Governor, and that he proposed to perform his duties till the Supremo Court decided otherwise. The vote for LieutenantGovernor on the face of the returns stood: Lampson (Rep.), 375,090; Marquig (Dem.), 875,068, the former thus hav ing a plurality of 22. Columuus, O., Feb. 1.- There was no trouble in the Senate yesterday morninjf. President pro tem. Adams took ths chair in the absence of LieutenantGovernor Marquis, and Mr. Lampson did not try to take the chair, as he said he would. Later he left for home. Columbus, O., Feb. 8.- Mr. I'atterson, one of the counsel for Lampson, saya the next move by the Ropublicans will b to secure the issuance of quo war ranto papers to Mr. Marquis from thd Supreme Court compelling him to show by what right he is acting as president of the Senate. The Supreme Court la solidly Republican, and is relied upon to oust Mr. Marquis and reinstate Mr. Lampson.
