Last Wednesday evening, a surprise party was given Jay and Kay McColl by their immediate friends, who in every way succeded in making a pleasant and enjoyable time the result of their presence. At the Congregational church last Sunday, Mrs. G. M. Lane of Detroit, spoke both morning and evening, in the interests of Home Missions. Her interesting talk yividly portrayed the needs and condition of the neoole in northern Michigan. Aa Mr. Butler's warm friends we are glad to see the followinjr extract from the Beacon : "Cannon - Bro. James E. Butler, who preached for us four years ago, went from us to Webster,' from there to Chicago ïheological Seminary. Last November we were again so fortúnate as to secure his services. During his holiday vacation he commenced a series of meetings, with Brother Lee to lead the singing. Fifty-five conversions were the result. Business is booming at the Agricultural Works in Milan. Miss Long left for her home in Detroit the flrst of the week. Miss K. Knight left for Blissfield, Thursday, on a short visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ostrander visited London, the first of the week. Rev. Chas. Case of Lambertville, visited Milan friends, Thursday. H. Burnham of Dakota, is visiting friends in Milan and vicinity. Mrs. E. O. Parks died at her home on the Ridge, Saturday, after a long illnesp. P. Birkett of Mooreville, has moved into Mr. O. Guv's residence on Countyst. Mrs. O. E. Haivkins and son of Eaton Rapids, are visiting Milan relatives.this week. Mrs. S. Andrews entertained the Missionary Society, Wednesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Beldin Rouse of Saline, visited Milan friends the last of the week. Several changes have been made in the business houses in Milan, this spring. Mr. and Mrs. Bachman will soon move into Mrs. Davis' house on E. Main-st. Rev. Mr. Connely of Detroit, was the guest of Rev. J. Hnntington, the flrst of the week. The Patrons of Industry will open a dry goods store in the Gauntlett bloek this week. Rev. Jay Huntington and Rev. Mr. Connely of Detroit, visited Dundee, Wednesday. Miss Onnie Williams is visisting her grand parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sprague, at Ann Arbor. M. C. Edward's house, occupied by Mr. Mangus, was burned $35 worth, Saturday evening. Sheriff Dwyer, of Ann Arbor, sold some of Mrs. Friend's stock to meet the taxes, Thursday. The Y. P. S. C. E. of the Baptist church will hold a sacred song service, next Sunday evening.
