Howlett, Saturday and Sunday. Miss Alice Lovejoy is spending the week with her parauta on Trumbull-ave., Detroit. Juige S. T. Douglas, of Gross Iale, was the guest of his daughter, Mrs. L. P. Hall, last week. Miss Jennie Wild, of Wayne, has been visiting the family of S. C. Cady, in the fifth ward. C. S. Fall went to Detroit, Monday, on business connected with the projected street railway. Mrs. L. E. Ribiason, of 3 E. University ave., is entertaiaing her brother, C. G. McCulloch, of Chicago. Mrs. T. J. Wramplemeir, of San Diego, Cal., is visiting her sister, Mrs. George Loomis, on N. Mainst. C. DeWitt has returned from the north and reaumed hia position as engineer on the T. & A. A. yard engine. Adolph Krause and wife, of Grand Rapids, are the gnests of John Koch, corner of Fifth and Liberty-s.s. Col. E. M. Irish, of Kalanmoo, has been visiting bis wife and daughter, who have been spendicg the winter here. Mra. A. N. Hart returned to Detroit Saturday evening, after a week'svisit with her párente, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Miley. L. D. Wines represented Schiller Oouncil at the Grand Council of the Royal rcanum held at Grand Rapids, this week. H. B. Bryan, of the Charlotte Democrat, dropped ofif at the depot Tuesday, long enough to inq'iire about his many friends in this city. Mias Ida AlleQ, of S. Fourth ave., left Monday for a viait at Saginaw. S;ie will go from there to St. Paul, Minn., to spend the summer with her sister. Durward Lowery arrived at home from Chicago last week, to visit his parenta on W. ïïuron et., while recovering from a severe attack of inflammatory rheumatism. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Cutler left,Monday,for Middle Bass Island, where Mr. Cutler will again have charge of the club house and grounds of the Toledo FishiDg and Sporting Club, thia ssason. Cha. B. Wocdward leaves thia wet k for Detroit, to accept, a position as day clerk in the ceiv Hotel Normandie, which is to be opdeed next week. Cuarlie is one of the jolliest and most popular hotel clerks in Michigan and will attract custora to the new hote!. A. J. PaiJey, of tha T. & A. A. R. R., was in the city 6everal days last week. Hb was accompinied bv P. J. Ilines, passenger agent of the Wbeeliag & Lake Brie, and they were looking after the large nutnber of studects who wire eaving for home to spend vacation. Ir. and Mr?. J. L. Stone left, Fiiday, for Rushville, Ind., where they will make their future hoice. Mr. Stone, in company with his brother-in-law, F. A. Cutler, has purchased the furniture and business of one of the best hotels in that thriving city. Both of these gentlemen have been engaged in the hotel business before, and have gaiaed repitations as excellent hosts, so that their success in tüeir new venture will not be in doubt.
