Shaw and wife are visiting at Erie, Mich., this week. The funeral of the late Wm. P. Carson occurred on Thursday last. C. M. Webb is having a new barn built on the rear of his residence lot. E.W. Ford and MartThorn were somewhat bruised up by the falling of a scaffolding upon which they were working. Mr. and Mrs. Jno. Warner, Miss Mag. Mrs. Stringer and children, of Inkster, are visiting relatives in Milan this week. Mrs. G. K. Williams is the guest of her párente, Mr. and Mrs. J. Sprague, this week. Mrs. Eliza C. Fall and family were in town Sunday. Mrs. Kate Queal, of Hamburg, visited relatives here last week. The Webster Sunday school is soon to have a harvest concert. R. H. Seadin and wife are contemplating a trip to California. Scott Williams, of Ann Arbor, spent a few days visiting here recently. The Webster Reading Club meets this Friday evening at President Phelps'. This Saturday is the last day woodchuck scalps will be received by the town clerk. Orley Gregory and Miases Phelps and Pacy, ail of Dexter, visited relatives here last week. Miss Lulu Spencer, of Jackson, who has been visiting her uncle, VVilliam Burnham, returned Saturday. The annual meeting of the Sunday school missionary society was held last Sunday evening and elected the following officers for the ensuing year: President, Ray McColl; vice president, Mrs. Hattie Kenny ; secretary, Miss Ida Kenny, and treasurer, Will Alexander. The Sappho Club met with Miss Hendricks last evening, and elected new oflicers. The sale of seats for the Y. M. C. A. lecture course has been large, and the association feel sure of success. George Williams, of the Emma Juch Opera Company, spent a short time here last week, with relatives, Rev. and Mrs. B-ale. The Occidental is being thoroughly and handsoinely deeorated, painted and papored, under the direetion of Geo. C. Amsden aud a forcé of Ann Arbor men. Our opera house orchestra is such an improvementupouany musicthat'sbeen given-t entertainments for the past two years that the citizens feel like presenting them with a quadruple cheer every time they perform. Prof. Straight, a young and popular instructor in the Business College, died from a severe attack of heart trcuble, Sundav evening. He had been confiaed to the house less thn a week. He leaves a wife and three children. S iturday morning, as Wm. Moss and Mr Jenkins, normal students, were mduleing in an after-breakfast, Informal wrestling match, both feil heavily to the eroiiiul. Mr. Moss was so burt by the fall thiit he lay in an unconscions state forseveral hours, but is fust recovenng bis spirits and health.
