JToyember 7. tlt is with great pleasure that the management of the opera house is enabled to announce a concert by Gilmore's band, which will take place in that place on the afternoon of November?. Itisneedless to dweil at length upon the superior meritand rarequality ofanaftraction of this high character. r. b. trilmore, personally, is famous the world over as the originator and general executive and conductor of the grcat Boston Jubilees of 1869 and 1872, which were the greatest musical affairs ever held upon earth. Since these gigantic successes hehas enjoyed the distinctiou ol being the greatest military band leader in the world. He bas traveled in every country and gathered the finest instrumental soloists he could flnd into one grand organization known as Gilmore stwenty-gecond regiment band of New York which is universally acknowledged to be the finest musical oreanïzation of the kind in existence. This band has been constantly together playïng under the direction of Mr. Gilmore with scarcely any change in its membersnip for twenty or thirty years. lts Drmiant and wonderful playine of all classes of music, from the finest classical compositions to the simplest airs and popular melodies, has delighted untold thousands, not only in America but throughout Europe, during the tour made there in 1878, this being the uui.y .menean Dand to visit the Paris exposition of that year or make a tour of the old world.
