Another Pioneer Gone
Another pioneer of Washtenaw county has passed away, in the person of Sherman Hinckley, of Pittsfield. His death occurred on Monday evening. He was bom Nov. 23, 1803, in Toland county, Connecticut. Until he carne to this county he followed tkeshoemakers' trade. Of farming he has made a great success, his estáte being estimated at $75,000. He waa married in 1831 to Orpha Gates. Four children are still living : Mrs. Peter Cook, of York; Mrs. Fred Johnson, of Pittsfield; Mrs. J. F. Sanders, of Ypsilanti,and Frank Hinckley, also of Ypsilanti. Mr. Hinckley had been justice of the peaoe for about fifteen years, and has always held a prominent place among the farmers of this county.
