An Enterprising Reporter

Capt. Manly tells a good joke on himself. Said he: "They got a good one on me in Grand Rapids that I have always cept to myself. You know the rejorters were after me a long time before [ told them anything. One day I was euperintending the work on the terrace when I was approached by the worst ooking tramp you ever saw. His clothng was full of holes and he staggered as if he had been drinking. He told me that he had a brother in the home and he wanted to find out something about it. Well, air, I will be plagued f that fellow didn't find out pretty nearly all there was to teil. The next morning the Democrat came out with a long interview, which stirred up tbe board considerably. The fellow carne around the next Sunday in his best clothee, but I recognized him and we had a good laugh overit."
