The clover seed erop is very light. Rev. Mr. Butler was in town a week ago on his wheel. Misses Carrie and Jennie Seelye, of Ann Arbor, are visiting friends here. A great deal of all kinds of grain has already been threshed. It is considered good quality. Last Saturday Misses Nettie Latson and Mattie McColl gave a tea-party at the residence of the former. Mllan. Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Reynolds entertained guests, Sunday. Wilbur Butler, of Detroit, visited Milan friertds oyer Sunday. Geo. Hanson leaves for the northern part of the state in a few days. The quarterly meeting will be held at the Methodist church, Sunday. Black & Minto are ready to wait on customers at their new clothing house. Mrs. Belle Taylor, of Saginaw, is visiting her mother on County-st for a few days. T&e Y. P. S. C. E. held a delightful lawn social at JohnBlakeslee'sSaturday evening. Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Putman are going to housekeeping in one of E. A. Reynold's houses on First-st. Wbitmore l.ake. Miss Mae Dunlap will visit Detroit friends during the exposition. Orrin Stafford and lady, of Flint, are visiting with Frank Butterfield and family. Fred Smith has sold one of his horses and replaced the same by one purchased of L. J. Stiles. Miss Jennie Placeway, of Brighton, visited her aunt, Mra. Alex. ïodd, the last of the week. Willard Wilson was called to his brother, Dr.Arthur wilson, of Hanover, Mich., who is seriously UI. Mr. Lavender has purchased a team. One horse of Harry Pinckney and one ofGeo. Silsbyof Hamburg. Steve Douglas, of Green Oak, has purchased the lumber of the ice house near Ed. Koper's and will builii a barn. Miss Ella McDonald attended the teachers' institnte at Howell last week. Her school will re-open August 31st. Henry Wise and Miss Edith Fethers, óf Howell, enjoyed a weeks' outing at Alex. Todd's and returned home Saturday évening. s Will Osborne and family have removed from Mr. Weber's rooms to Chas. Dewey's house near Silver Lake, in Green Oak. Mrs. Bland, of Detroit, who has been the guest of W. B. Rane's family for the past week or two, returned to her home on Saturday. Lumbard's orchestra will go to Wallace Lake Friday, August 28, to play for Capt. Nichols, proprietor of the Nichols House. Bert Bennett, who recently returned from the west, has purchased the farm known as "Alfred Bennett's farm" near the F. W. B. church ia Green Oak, Owing to rains and Capt. Pratt's funeral, we have had no services in the church for the last three Sundays. Services will be held next Monday. Cbelsea. Farmers are busy pulling beans. Cheisea sidewalks have been repaired. Miss Cady will teach in the Jewett district. T. McKane bas purchased property in Chicago. Lewis Freeman returned from the east last Tuesday. J. P. Wood expects soon to repair and repaint his residence. Orla Taylor, of Detroit, has been at home for a short time. Mrs. J. R. Sackett, of Albion, is spending a few days in town. Mrs. HIngraham, of Denver, Col., is visitinglier brother, Dr. Wright. Mr. and Mrs. W. F. Hatch have returned from an enjoyable eastern trip. Mrs. A. Calkin entertained Miss Lucy Chapin, of Ann Arbor, last week. Dr. and Mrs. Palmer entertained Dr. W. J. Herdman at Cavanaugh lake, last week. The Misses Mary and Kate Carney, of Ann Arbor, are the guests of Aggie McKune. The Misses Considine, of Detroit, and Ryan, of Chicago, are visiting Fr. Considine. The Misses Mary Howe and Susie Drew, of Detroit, are visiting friends in Chelsea. Miss Kxtie Herr, oí Toieüo, nas Deen visiting Mrs. Chas. Whittaker and Mrs. John Clark. Mrs. S. Hook, of Detroit, rendered some fine music on the new organ, Sunday morning. ïhe Epwortli League held an ice creain social in the McKune block, Saturday evening. Mr. H. Plass, of Detroit, has been spending a few days with his faruily at Cavanaugh lake. Mrs. C. H. Kempf and daughter, Myrta, starled, last Wednesday, for a trip up the lakes. The Miases Maud Palmer, of Grasa Lake, and Nellie Kempf, of Ann Arbor, were entertained at the lake cottage of J. A. Palmer, last week. The ladies of St. Mary's church held a successful ice cream social at the town hall, last Saturday evening. A large crowd attended,and 30 gallons of cream were B0'-__1.
