Boston, Sept. 17.- Mr. Thomas Bailey Aldrich is ut present in Switzerland, traveling for recreation pure and simple. He is no longer editor of the Atlantic Monthly. He has a channing home in Boston on Beacon Hill. Mr. Aldrich isabout fifty years old, althougb he looks mnch younger. He has darrk brovn hair powdered with gray, hazel eyes and a heavy mustache. He is an eccentric dresser, inclining to the Dickens style of male frippery, and affects Btunning trousers, gay plaid silk waist-' coate, Norfolk jackets and red ties. He is a brilliant and entertaining con- versationist. His English is most i fnlly selected, and he speaks slowly andi with great grecision. He is said to be the most delightful host imaginable, and while he has no penchant for athletics, he ia interested in topics that concern vromen and is a great favorite of the fair sex.
