" Bleát be the tie that binds" Ann Arbor and Ypsi, if it is only a (motor) railroad tie, for we load up our cheeses, crazy bed quilts, oil paintings and big pumpkins and send 'era over to the fair in care of " the man," while we take our ease (and umbrella) in the open car, and sit looking with longing eyes at those great clusters of purple and gold past which we whiz, never stopping until the fair grounds loom in sight. Verily Ann Arbor is a beautiful city, and we are very glad she haa the advantage of being located so near Ypsi. It sort of gives her more confidence in herself to have such a staunch, respectable burg as Ypsi in the family. The many friends of Chas. W. McCorkle, who was wounded in Detroit Friday by the cylinder explosión, are pleased to learn that his condition is improving and hopes are entertained for his recovery. There came near being a serious accident at the Presbyterian church Sunday evening. The side steps and porch have been in an unsafe condition for some months, but as no means had been used to remedy the danger.it only remained for some one to take the final step which was to break, not the camel's back, but the rotten porch. The unfortunate person was Mrs. C. Coryell, and only her extremely light weight saved her from serious if not fatal injuries. As it is, she has suffered greatly from the fall. Some one proposes that, the Presbyterian congregation choose far its rallying hymn, "Christian, Walk Carefully, Danger is Near." Rampler.
