Washington, Sept. 28.- The oensus office has issued a bulletin on the coal product of the United States. It shows that the eoal product of the country reached a total of 141,229,513 short ton's in the census year and was valued at the mines before any expenses for ghipment at $160,886,823. The product included 45,000,487 short tons of Penbsylvania and other anthracite, Worm $65,89,514, and 05,659,026 short tons H bituminous and lignite, valued at $94,846,809. The average value of :ill salable grades of anthracite was PI. 5i per ton at the mines, and the average of bitumiuous coal was 99 cents por short ton at the mines. In 1S80 the total product included 28,649,812 short tons of anthracite and 42,831, 75S short tons of bituminous coal. The value oí the entire product was 895,640,396. The product increaseel 97.67 per cent. during tlie decade and the total value 07.53 per cent. The total number of persons engaged in the industry was 290,579, who received in the aggregate 8109,130,928 as wages.
