MoNTOOMBRT, Ala., Nov. 3. - Th most brutal murder in the past month In the town of Georgiana occurred Sunday night. It is a small place on the Louisvüle & Nashville railroad abont 50 miles south of this city. Sunday afternoon a number of unknown men went to the residence of Mr. 8hepliard, engaged in a quarrel with liira, and at the same time hurled vile epithets at his wife. A f ter considerable parleying the men lef t the house. Subsequently, however, they returned and murdered Shephard and liis wife, horribly mutilating their bodics. It is believed that axes were the weapoDS nsed. Tho house is guarded and no one is allowed to enter. A telegram has been sent to Birmingham asking that a number of blood hounds be sent at once. The people there are in a state of frenzy and tho murderers will certainly be lynched if they are caught. Shepherd was a prominent merchant
