Home talent furnished a first-class entertainment at high school hall, Friday evening. Mrs. T. C. Trueblood's impersonation of the various characters in Silas Marner was ekillfully made. Her Dunstan, Godfrey, Squire Case, Marnsr, Nancy, Dollie Winthrop were, it is safe to say, true to the characters depicted by George Eliot. Miss Lucy K. Colefavored the audience with four of her prettiest songs, all indicating natural talents as well as culture. Equally praiseworthy was the "Widmung" of Mrs. W. F. Edwardg. The program closed with Mendelsohn's "Greeting," a duet by Mrs. Edwards and Miss Cole. The audience manifested much pleasure throughout the entire entertainment. WEDDING EELLS. John Baumgardner, the well-known marble dealer, and Miss Pauline Wincer were married Tuesday morning at seven o'clock, in St. Thomas' church, Rev. E. D. Kelly officiating. After partaking of a wedding breakfast with a company of relativeB and fnends, thoy took the train for Tiffin, Ohio. They are expected to return today. Their future home will be at 24 north Fifth-ave- where they will receive the congratulations of many friends. IIEKB AND THERE. John Pfeitle has gone to Texas. Dr. Chapín, of Milan, was in the city Monday. A. W. Ames returned on Sunday from Chicago. Mrs. Henry Logan, of Osceola, is visiting Jas. N. Riley. Mr, and Mrs. H. W. Hawley arrived in Denver on Saturday. The Odd Fellows gave a very enjoyable social last evening. Mrs. F. Volz and son, of Saginaw, are visiting Mrs. Sophia Spring. Arthur Beardsell, of Hudson, is visiting his aunt, Mrs. C. G. Plympton. G. B. Thompson leaves today for Chicago, where he will try a snit. Miss Lizzie Giegg, of Jackson, is visiting her sister, Mrs. W, D. Adame. Mrs. David McNair, of Tecumseh, has been visiting Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Doty. O. M. Clement, of St. Johns, called upon his brother, L. H. Clement, Tuesday. Dr. Ada F. Buck. of Philadelphia, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. J. Keech. A. W. Ash, of the Toledo Blade, spenta portion of last week with J. R. Bowdish. A. T. Bruegel, after an extended business trip, is spending a few days with his family. Dr. T. A. Stoddard.of Halifax, Nova fecotia, is visiting Lis brother-in-Iaw, Morris F. Lantz. The young people of the Presbjlerian church will entertain the students tomorrow evening. Richard Masón returned on Monday from Gladstone. He remains in this city till enow flies. Mrs. Alphonso Clifford, of Northville, South Dakota, bas been visiting her sister, Mre. W. S. Perry. Regent-elect Peter N. Cook spent Sunday with his danghter, Miss Fannie, who is in the University. Mrs. Johnson, who has been viBiting her sister, Mrs. K. E. Phinney, left Saturday for South Bend, Ind. Socials are to be giyen at six o'clock this evening in HarrisHall and in the parlors of the Methodist church. Mrs. W. J. Abbott, of Chicago, and Miss Grace Hawley, of Kansas City, are visiting Christian Mack and family. The members of the Business Men's Quartette and their ladies were entertained by Bruno St. James last evening. A reception was given Tuesday evening at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Noble, in honor of Rev. and Mrs. C. M. Oobern. A pleasant surprise party was given Thursday evening in honor of Miss Lillian Burchfield's birthday. About twelve couples were present, who danced till an early hour. Mrs. Anna Hamilton and Miss Mary Hamilton returned on Thursday from Eaton Rapids, where they attended the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs. Horace M. Hamilton.
