Alderm;.n Fogucon ishajpy. At the council meeting Momlay the council voted to extend Summit-st fiomBeakes to Detroit-stand to do away with the "point." The gas eompany's lot will be purchased entire. Thus Detroit-st will be widened and made more convenient for teams. The proposed improvement is to cost not more than $300. The bids submitted by the electric light cr-mpany called for eighty lampa at $81 npiece, to bnrn 265 nights a year until 12:30 A. M. The bid was referreri. The committee appointed to confer with property-owners regarding the proposed extensión of south Fourth-ave af ked further time. The matter of free beds in the new hospital carne up, and further time was granted to the committee. The usual monthly reports of offlcera were eeived. Complaint having been made with reference to the failure to light the i'ourt house clock, the lighting com.nittee was af-ked to investígate the matter. The of the council were extended to Congressman Gorman fortwo United Stalee maps which had been ■reented to thecity. The mayor was authorized to appoint D B craft and Robert Leonard special policemen at the opera h without cost to the city. Dpon motion of Alderman Fülmire, a special committee, consisting uf Alderman Fillmore, Martin, O'Hearn, Wineeand HaU, was appointedio examine the evidenco in the case, now pending, of Adolph Kemper vc. the cityofAnn Arbor, and the committe was given power to hire additional counsel in case it should be deemed neces-ary. So many persons having failed to i)uild the sidewalks that Were ordered, the board of putlic works were reqnested, by resolution, to investígate the matter. It was decided that the members of the councilshould confer on Wednesday aflerncon with the state railroad commissioner with referenceto theproposed gates on the streets crossed by the Toledo road. The wurd sewenige was not mentioned in the council meeting.
