Bentonville, Ark., June 6. -The People's bank was robbed by a band of six desperadoes from the Indian ter-' ritory Monday afternoon and over J10,000 was secured. The robbers were armed with rifles. They entered with a rush and with leveled runs commanded those present to hold up their hands. No resistance was attempted and Cashier McAndrew was told to empty the contents of the vault into sacks which had been broujfht for the purpose. One of the robbers carried the gold and currency. Assistant Cashier Jackson was compelled to shoulder the sack of silver which contained over 11,000. The officials were then made to proceed in front of the robbers in the return to the horses. By this time the citizens, who were at first panic stricken, recovered, and having armed themselves fired on the bandits, who kept up a steady return fire, eovering the two main streets of the town. Assistant Cashier Jackson, who had joined in the pursuit, was shot in the head and arm, but his injuries are not serious. Taylor Storm, a farmer who fired upon the robbers with a shotgun, was shot throug-h the right groin and killed. Torn Baker, a farmer, was shot in the chin, and in return wounded one of the robbers. Tote Woolsey.a drayman, also wounded one.
